About Dr. Nitin Mehra

Counselling psychologist and author bridging modern therapeutic practices with deep personal inquiry.

My Story

My interest in psychology and philosophy began long before I formally entered the field. Even as a child, I found myself drawn to fundamental questions about life, consciousness, and human nature.

That core curiosity stayed with me during my initial career as a software engineer. Trained to analyze complex systems by breaking them down to understand how they function, I began wondering whether that same analytical approach could apply to human life. I often describe this period as an attempt to “reverse engineer” existence—examining the hidden assumptions, core beliefs, and narrative patterns through which we build our experience of the world.

This continuous inquiry eventually led me to transition from technology into psychology. I completed my Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Christ University and went on to earn a PhD in Psychology focusing on Existential Therapy. Today, my clinical practice integrates Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), grounded always by a deep respect for personal philosophy and human experience.

For over a decade, I have worked alongside individuals navigating questions of self-worth, anxiety, relationships, identity, and meaning. Based in Bengaluru, India, I serve as the founder and director of Creative Existence Actualized, working across psychotherapy, clinical training, research, and writing.

My first book, You Are Not a Problem to Fix: Modern Psychology Meets Ancient Wisdom, bridges modern clinical perspectives with timeless philosophy. It was written to explore a gentle yet profound possibility: that perhaps we do not need to spend our entire lives attempting to repair ourselves, but rather learning how to integrate and live authentically.
