Counselling & therapy
A collaborative space, not a repair shop.
Therapy is not simply about managing symptoms; it is a collaborative space to understand the deeper architecture of your experiences, choices, and self-worth. Whether navigating acute life transitions, relationship dynamics, or existential questions of meaning, our work together focuses on building sustainable clarity, resilience, and personal authenticity.
What we work on
Areas of practice
Life transitions
Career change, relocation, loss, becoming a parent, or the quiet turning points that arrive without announcement. We work on steadiness while the ground is moving.
Relationship dynamics
Recurring patterns in partnerships, family and friendship — how they formed, what they protect, and what it would take to choose differently.
Anxiety and low mood
Understanding the function of anxiety and depressed mood rather than only suppressing them, alongside practical tools for daily regulation.
Self-worth and identity
The internal architecture of how you evaluate yourself, and how to build a sense of worth that does not depend on constant performance.
Questions of meaning
Existential fatigue, purpose, faith and doubt — the questions that rarely fit neatly into a symptom checklist but shape everything.
Stress and burnout
For people carrying demanding professional and caregiving loads: recovery, boundaries, and a sustainable relationship with work.
How it works
From first note to closing
01
Enquiry
You write in with a short note about what brings you here. There is no form to perfect — a few sentences are enough.
02
First conversation
An initial session to understand your history, your current situation, and what you would like to be different.
03
Ongoing work
Regular sessions, usually weekly or fortnightly, held online or in person. Pace and frequency are decided together.
04
Review
We revisit progress openly, adjust the focus when needed, and close the work when it has done its job.
Our way of working
Our understanding of life is that no one is an expert on living. When we work with a therapist, counsellor or coach, we work with someone we can relate to, who we can connect with, and who we can learn to trust. This, more than any particular approach, technique or ethos, has been recognised, time and again, to be the most important aspect of psychotherapy and counselling. In choosing a therapist therefore, it is imperative that clients 'shop around', and find someone that they can feel comfortable with.
The existential approach
The existential approach is a truth-seeking method of facing the challenges of living. It is concerned at a fundamental level with what it means to be human and how we could understand human existence.
…the purpose of psychotherapy is to set people free.
